Week of May 21st

We are in the final stretch first grade parents. Like so many other things in life this year seemed to go by in the blink of an eye. I am still preparing myself to send your children upstairs to second grade in just five short days. Thank you to each and every one of you for making this year possible, for being so supportive as I transitioned into the working-mom role and for all of your hard work with your children both at home and in the classroom. I am going to miss this group so very much.

Please remember that this week Monday is the only full day. Tuesday-Friday we will release at 12:30 and there will be no clubs or lunch. Our end of unit Mexico Celebration is this Wednesday. If you have questions please reach out to Mrs. Ashcraft who has worked so hard to make this happen.

Lots of work and supplies will be coming home this week so please check your child's backpack. We will continue our final Literature unit: Pippi Longstocking, and wrap up our Mexico Unit in history. In math we will have our money test and a cumulative test. The purpose of the cumulative test is to give you an insight to your child's growth in math this year, and to show areas he or she may need support in as they prepare for second grade.

It is has truly been a pleasure being your child's teacher this year. Each of your children will always hold a special place in my heart as my first ever Great Hearts class. I hope you all have a safe and relaxing summer, and that I see you in passing or that our paths will cross again when your younger children move up to first grade :)

Love,
Mrs. Bollinger

Week of May 14th

First Grade Families,
Things are winding down in the first grade, however we do have engaging lessons planned through our last day. Please note that we will not be doing Spalding the last few weeks and will spend this time covering grammar and phrases and sayings. Your child will still have homework, however this will not be the typical Spalding packet.
