Week of November 20th

Hello First Grade Families!

It is hard to believe that it is already the week of Thanksgiving! I want to thank you all for all of your support with the fall concert and our Thanksgiving play. Our class will be performing our play in the MPR on Tuesday 11/21 at 9:00 am. Mrs. Ashcraft and Mrs. Norton have been working hard to make sure we have costumes, props and volunteers. Many of you have already donated materials and time which is appreciated. I do need a few volunteers to help with set-up and take down, as well as bottled water. Set up could happen once school starts at 8:10. Take down would occur around 10:00. If you are able to help please send me an email letting me know as soon as possible. We will have a sign in and out where you normally drop your children off. If for some reason your child will be leaving after the play you must sign them out on my sheet before leaving.

If you wish to order books from our recent book order please do so by Tuesday 11/21 online.

With this being a holiday week we will spend time reviewing objectives, looking at life-cycles and comparing numbers. When we return we will begin studying religions around the world. This week we will not have Spalding homework. The Thanksgiving holiday is an R and R weekend- there will be no school 11/22-11/24. We hope you enjoy this time with your families and are truly thankful to have you as a part of our Great Hearts family!

Week of November 6th

Hello 1A Families!
I hope you all had a restful weekend and were able to enjoy the nicer weather we have been having! Thank you so much for dressing up your children and donating your time and supplies last week for Character Day! Our scholars had the best time celebrating the books that they love, these things would not be possible without all of your dedication and support and I am so grateful for you all.

This is a busy quarter and we have more excitement coming your way! Please remember to get out and grab the appropriate attire for the fall concert which will be taking place at the Higley Center for the Arts on the evening of November 16th. If you have any questions please reach out to myself or our music teacher Mrs. Boswell.

This year all first grade classes will be presenting a Thanksgiving play. Our class will be performing from 9:00-10:00 am on November 21st in the MPR. All children will have speaking parts that they will be reading from a script for the play. On the day of the play please send your child to school wearing his or her "concert" attire. Our liaisons are busy preparing simple costumes and props that they will be given the day of. If you have any questions regarding this please do not hesitate to reach out to me.
